Snorkeling at Nemo Reef, Havelock Island
Nemo Reef, located off the coast of Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is one of the most beginner-friendly and visually stunning snorkeling sites in India. Its calm, shallow waters—usually ranging from 1 to 12 meters deep—make it perfect for first-timers and families.
As you dip beneath the surface, you’ll find a vibrant underwater world filled with colorful coral gardens, schools of clownfish (yes, like Nemo!), parrotfish, butterflyfish, and even the occasional sea cucumber or starfish. The visibility here is excellent, especially in the morning, and local instructors provide short training sessions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Best time to visit: October to May, when the sea is calm and clear.
Tips:
Bring a GoPro or waterproof camera for some incredible underwater shots.
Avoid touching corals—they’re delicate and vital to the ecosystem.
Book through licensed operators for safety and environmental compliance.
If you love marine life and want a relaxed, picturesque snorkeling adventure, Nemo Reef in Havelock is a must-do on your Andaman itinerary.
