Self Bike Rental at Port Blair

Self-drive bike rentals in the Andaman Islands typically cost between ₹600 and ₹800 per day for standard petrol scooters, such as the Honda Activa. The rental price does not include fuel charges. Rental duration and return timings may vary depending on the destination and vehicle type.

Rental Duration & Return Timing

Port Blair – Up to 12 Hours:

In Port Blair, a bike rental is considered a maximum 12-hour rental. Bikes can generally be collected from 8:00 AM onwards, subject to availability.

The vehicle must be returned no later than 8:00 PM on the same day, even if the full 12-hour period has not been completed.

For example:

Pickup at 8:00 AM → Return by 8:00 PM

Pickup at 9:00 AM → Return by 8:00 PM

Pickup at 12:00 PM → Return by 8:00 PM

Pickup at 4:00 PM → Return by 8:00 PM

The rental does not automatically extend beyond 8:00 PM based on the pickup time. 8:00 PM is the final same-day return cut-off time in Port Blair.

If the vehicle is not returned within the permitted return time, the rental may be treated as an additional rental day, and an additional full-day rental charge may apply.

Havelock Island – 24 Hours:

In Havelock Island, the rental duration is generally calculated on a 24-hour basis from the actual pickup time.

For example:

Pickup at 9:00 AM today → Return by 9:00 AM the following day

Pickup at 2:00 PM today → Return by 2:00 PM the following day

If the vehicle is kept beyond the permitted 24-hour rental period, an additional day's rental charge may apply.

Important Rental Information

Driving Licence:

Customers must carry a valid physical driving licence while riding. Digital copies or photographs may not always be accepted during traffic checks.

Helmet Safety:

Helmets are mandatory for both the rider and the pillion passenger. Failure to wear a helmet may result in penalties from the local traffic police.

Fuel Charges:

The standard rental price of ₹600–₹800 is exclusive of fuel. Fuel expenses must be paid separately by the customer.

Most rental providers follow a same-fuel-level return policy, meaning the vehicle should be returned with approximately the same amount of fuel as provided at the time of pickup.

Electric Vehicles:

Electric scooters or other electric vehicles may have a higher rental price than standard petrol vehicles.

Applicable battery charging or charging service charges may also be payable separately by the customer, depending on the vehicle and rental provider.

Refundable Security Deposit:

The online booking covers only the vehicle rental. The refundable security deposit is not required to be paid during the online booking process.

A refundable security deposit, usually between ₹2,000 and ₹3,000 depending on the vehicle and rental provider, must be paid directly at the time of physical vehicle handover.

The security deposit will be refunded when the customer returns the vehicle, subject to the vehicle being returned in the agreed condition and after any applicable damage, penalty, fuel, late-return, or other outstanding charges have been settled.

The rental provider may also request a valid original ID proof, such as an Aadhaar Card or Voter ID, at the time of vehicle handover.

Late Return:

Customers must return the vehicle within the applicable rental period. Late returns may result in an additional full-day rental charge.
